.As a point guard on the basketball team Omar averaged 15 points and 5 assists, but it was obvious that his football prowess was going to carry him to the next level.

rushed 98 times for 1300 yards; a 13.3 yds/rush average.His
performances on the field propelled him to being selected as the Montgomery County Player of the Year, an All-Met selection, Maryland State Player of the Year, and a Chesapeake Classic All-Star.After a year of prep school at Maine Central Institute, Omar attended Howard University to play defensive back. At Howard, under the guidance of Steve Wilson (10 year NFL CB) and Greg Butler (NFL and CFL veteran) Omar started at safety and cornerback for three straight seasons.
