Rabbi Norton D. Shargel is a father, scholar, author, and community leader.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he received a BA in Philosophy and Semitics from Johns Hopkins University.
He received his Master of Hebrew Letters and Rabbinical Degree in 1959 from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
In 1984 Rabbi Shargel was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from the Seminary, and in 1991 he received the degree of Doctor of Hebrew Literature.
From September, 1970 until August 1998, Rabbi Shargel served as Rabbi of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison.
