Norman L. Miller has been a member of the CDTA Board since July 2006. Mr. Miller is president of Leadership Management of New York, Inc., and a strategic development company that specializes in strategic planning, organization and management development, executive leadership and team building. He retired from the United States Air Force with 33 years of service and serves as a member of the Schenectady Military Affairs Council. He is a member of the Schenectady Rotary Club and the Schenectady/Saratoga Visiting Nurse Association Board of Directors. He is also a founding member of the Albany County Safe Haven organization in Altamont. Active in his community, he was a member of the Princetown Comprehensive Planning Committee. He was a member of the 1988 Olympic Bobsled Coaching Staff. Mr. Miller is the author of "IceSpy", an espionage novel published in 1995. Mr. Miller is a member of the CDTA Planning and Stakeholder Relations Committee. He and his wife reside in Princetown.

Norman L. Miller, 65, of Princetown will serve for two years, the unexpired term of longtime board member Joseph Parillo of Schenectady, who stepped down earlier this year.
Hugh T. Farley, R-Niskayuna, recommended Miller for the appointment, calling him a well qualified successor for Parillo, who the senator said leaves "a large pair of shoes" to fill.
"He's the type of fellow who gets very involved in anything he does," Farley said of Miller, pointing to his ongoing involvement in Schenectady's downtown Challenger Learning Center project.
Miller retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant in 2001 and now is president of Leadership Management of New York.The company provides strategic consulting and training for companies looking to operate more efficiently and profitably, he said.
He was nominated by Gov.
Miller has twice been the Republican candidate for supervisor in the town of Princetown and serves on several community boards and committees, including those for the Center City Sports Complex and the Schenectady/Saratoga Visiting Nurse Association.
He is a leader on development of the Challenger Learning Center, a project that aims to promote math, science and technology education for children in grades K-8.
He has coached U.S. Olympic bobsledders and written an espionage novel, "IceSpy," which was published in 1995.
Miller, who has been named to CDTA's planning committee, said he hopes his knowledge of strategic planning will contribute to the authority's work.

Our President, Norman Miller, specializes in professional and team leadership. He got into the strategic development business because he had been a bobsled athlete and then became an Olympic coach. For many years he coached world class athletes and now he has transferred that experience into business to train world class executives.
While a member of the United States Air Force he created and managed a national Health Professions Recruiting program for the U.S. Government that increased the number of medical officers in the Air National Guard from 71% in 1991 to 97% in 1996.
