"It's a case of getting the people who have the venues to display and distribute all the leaflets, such as pubs, guest houses, village shops, together with the people with events and attractions to publicise," says Richmondshire District Council's
Tourist Information Manager, Norman Mahaffy
."There is a lot of good quality literature about, but our Tourist Information Centres just do not have the space to store bulk supplies of information. This is the ideal way for visitor attractions and leaflet distributors to meet up and kick-start publicity for the season."
Representatives from more than 70 attractions and professional bodies will gather at Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn on Tuesday 21 March, with supplies of their latest information, ready to distribute to local outlets, and the event is open to the public from 11am to 1pm.
"Invitations have been sent to specific organisations currently on our database," adds Mr Mahaffy
, "but what is really important is that as many people as possible turn up to the event and take leaflets away to display or distribute them.Representatives from schools, libraries, post offices, cafés, or shops; in fact anyone who has a role as a provider of information, is very welcome to come along on the day. It's a very effective way of mass distributing a wide range of information in a relatively short space of time."Richmondshire District Council's
Tourism team will be available throughout the event to offer advice and discuss tourism-related issues. To find out more, or to register interest in attending, please contact TIC Manager Norman Mahaffy on 01748 829100, or e-mail email@example.com.
