Norman Kalat, Chief Flight Instructor, CFI, CFII, MEI
Norm started flying at the age of 17.
His interest in flying was sparked in his growing years by an airplane ride at the Fair.
It took Norm 13 years from his first flight lesson to realize his dream of being a pilot by earning his Private Certificate.
In addition to that longed-for Private, Norm holds certificates for Commercial, ASEL, ASES, AMEL, Instrument, Glider, CFI, CFII and MEI.
He has piloted numerous airplanes and the list includes Aeronca Champ, Cub, Super Cub, Cessna 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 206, Beech 23, V35, A36, BE-58, C90 and Lear 35.
His favorite airplane is the Piper Super Cub and the most unusual airplane he has flown is a Pietenpol.
Norm has been a flight instructor in Colorado as well as a tow pilot at the USAF Academy.
In Alaska, he flight instructed in Super Cubs on floats and flew 135 in a Cub and 172 on floats.
In addition to flight instructing in Arizona, he has also been a corporate pilot and flown all over the United States.
Norm's spent 4 years in the Navy as a Mechanic on the A-6.
Norm and his wife, Christina, have been married for 13 years and have one son, Nathaniel.
