Norman R. Baker, PhD - Chairman of the Board
Norman R. Baker was one of the founding members of Integral Analytics, Inc. in January 2005 and continues to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding IA, Dr. Baker had a distinguished career in academia and management consulting. His research and consulting focused primarily on linear optimization, organizational strategy, and management of industrial research and development.
Dr. Baker retired from the University of Cincinnati in June 2002 after nearly 30 years as a tenured Professor. He continues to carry two university titles: University Professor and Provost Emeritus and Founding Director, Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program. These titles recognize his contributions to the University. The University Professor title reflects his teaching and research contributions. The Provost Emeritus title was awarded in recognition of his ten years as Senior Vice President & Provost. In 2007, the University will celebrate the tenth year of the Honors-PLUS Program, a very successful undergraduate honors program in its College of Business which Dr. Baker founded, with funding from Cincinnati-area businesses, in 1997. Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Baker was a tenured faculty member at Georgia Institute of Technology and Purdue University and a Visiting Lecturer at Morehouse College.
Dr. Baker was the Co-Founder and Director for Research of the Center of Innovation Management Studies at Lehigh University and Principal Founding Associate of Quantitative Systems Associates, Inc. in Atlanta. During his career, he has consulted with federal and state government agencies such as the Ohio Board of Regents, NASA, and Department of Energy. He also consulted with numerous companies including long-term relationships with Whirlpool Corporation, Procter & Gamble, and Coca-Cola and on a shorter term with several other companies. His most interesting consulting experience involved scheduling the baseball season for the American League.
Dr. Baker has published over 30 papers in scientific journals such as Management Science, Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Research Management. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Sloan Foundation, and Cleveland Foundation. He has served on numerous community, corporate, and academic Boards and received several academic and community service awards.
