Norma J. Williams laid the foundation for two, multi-million dollar companies in 1986, while standing in an unemployment line.Unlike her fellow job seekers, she was a veteran human resources professional. She had held senior level management positions with two Chicago staffing firms and had been the Branch Vice President of an international recruitment firm with offices in 31 countries.Norma had the know-how to get herself and many of the people in that line back onto a payroll; and that's what she decided to do.Norma set out to build a distinctive, full-service human capital management company known for its deep reservoir of the best-qualified administrative and clerical workers.A consummate salesperson, she began to market NJW Associates to blue chip and middle market companies.A testament to her careful screening process and high standards rests in company statistics revealing that nearly 45% of NJW's placements were later hired by its clients as full-time employees.Within five years, Norma had opened five NJW Associates offices throughout the Chicago area, with branch offices in Cleveland and Las Vegas. She surprised her clients and competitors with her record-breaking response time.NJW clients' staffing requests are filled within 45 minutes.Norma remained laser-focused.Her mission: to achieve 100% client satisfaction by anticipating and fulfilling her clients' changing staffing requirements. In 1998, when clients signaled a need for technology professionals, Norma launched a second company, NJW Technologies. With this company, her mission was to recruit and place the most highly skilled information technology consultants and technicians in government agencies, educational institutions and corporations. Norma knows her business intimately. She personally makes all of her company's sales calls and visits her clients' worksites to stay abreast of their unique needs. Her business prowess has been featured in a variety of business publications: Crain's Chicago Business, N'Digo magapaper, Temp Digest, Black Enterprise, Personnel Journal, Dollars and Sense magazine and Business Enterprise.Norma is actively involved in a number of business and civic organizations, working alongside the CEOs of some of Chicago's largest and most successful companies. The organizations include the Economic Club of Chicago, Executive Club of Chicago, Chicago United, Alliance of Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs (ABLE), National Association for Human Resource Professionals, Women in Technology, Association of Information Technology Professionals, American Staffing Association, Rainbow PUSH Coalition's International Trade Bureau, Chicago Sinfonietta, Habilitative Systems, YMCA, Illinois Academic Decathlon Association, and Sarah's Circle Homeless Shelter for Women. She is a recipient of the Norman LaHarry Scholarship Foundation's Woman of the Year Award, which recognized her achievements, outstanding abilities and service to the community.NJW Associates also was selected as one of Minority Business Report's Ten Outstanding Businesses. In addition to her busy professional life, Norma has two adult children, Saunte and Sidney. She enjoys spending free time with her grandson Taaj and granddaughter Sydney.
