Dr Noemie Bouhana
UCL Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science
Noemie joined JDI after a PhD in Criminology at the University of Cambridge.
Prior to studying at Cambridge, she
graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Science Po') in Lyon, France, and completed a Maitrise in Political Science at Universite Lyon III, where her
interest was in the ideology of the American militia movement and its online spread.
doctoral research challenged the feasibility of profiling arson cases.
Since then, she has returned to her earlier interest in political extremism and is researching ways to apply knowledge and methods from crime research and prevention to the study and prevention of terrorist violence.
At present, she
consults for the Counter-Terrorism Science and Technology Centre of the Ministry of Defence
at Porton Down.
also runs a phased research project into the causes and prevention of suicide terrorism, funded by the MOD Counter-Terrorism Centre
is collaborating with the UCL Centre for Security
and Crime Science to develop and run a new MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism.
