Another successful weekend for Birchfield Harriers saw Catherine Blew win at Wollaton Park in the Cross Country, whilst Daniel Cartwright and Niklas Aarre threw personal bests in Shot-put and Discus.
Birchfield's Niklas Aarre was also in fine form at the weekend when competing in the Under 20 Discus event in Blackpool. Despite difficult conditions, having to throw into 30 miles per hour gusts of wind, Aarre produced a personal best 47.23m. Though it is early, his throw puts him first in the UK rankings for 2014, a throw that at the end of last season's rankings would have seen him ninth in the country overall. Aarre has been working hard through the winter to improve his technique as well as his strength and conditioning.
