Traditionally, students have learned about business enterprise in class based lessons, but Nigel Roberts, Managing Director of Paramount Office Interiors, provided twenty students from Llanrumney High School the opportunity to see businesses in action!
initially approached Young Enterprise Wales
to discuss how he
could help enhance young peoples' knowledge of the business world.
offered students the opportunity to visit some of the most innovative businesses in Wales located at Paramount Business Park, St Mellons, Cardiff.
The young people were amazed that the local businesses they visited - Paramount
, IQE and Excelerate - were involved in such diverse and exciting projects.
said of the support he
offered: "It has been a fantastic opportunity for me to engage with local young people, and give them an experience that will hopefully inspire them to succeed.
By engaging young people with local role models they get a better understanding of the business world, thus increasing their employability and allowing them to entertain entrepreneurial thought."
The aim of the event was to increase young people's understanding of how a business operates; what types of skills are needed and what businesses are local to them.
The students visited each of the businesses, and then discussed what types of skills are needed for a successful business.
"Nigel offered us a fabulous opportunity to run our Entrepreneurship Masterclass in a different way" said Anne Colwill, Manager of Young Enterprise Wales.
brought it all to life for them and showed them that anything is possible.
