Nigel Clayton studied at the Royal College of Music where he won prizes in every category of piano playing and was awarded the College's yearly prize for his B.Mus. Degree. Whilst there a particular interest in chamber music and accompanying developed and he has subsequently enjoyed success on major world-wide tours; he has also appeared at most of the music clubs and festivals in the U.K. and has appeared regularly on the BBC's radio network. Nigel continues to perform as a soloist - he has played concertos by Mozart, Beethoven Schumann, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Ravel and enjoys playing on board British luxury cruise liners. Nigel has appeared with a wide range of musicians and ensembles from all over the world and is, in addition, a dedicated teacher, being a professor at the Royal College of Music.

We are delighted to announce that the pianist Nigel Clayton has agreed to teach on this course and to play the piano in the concert which Raphael was due to give with the Bingham Quartet on Friday 7 December, for which the programme is unchanged.
Nigel is an internationally experienced collaborative pianist who has worked with many of our finest musicians. He is also Professor of Piano at the Royal College of Music. We are deeply grateful to Nigel.

As a soloist, he's performed concertos by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Ravel, Rachmaninov, Mozart and Liszt and played Poulenc's two piano concertos in the Royal Albert Hall.
