Redefining Marriage: They said this would not happen!

By Nicole Theis, President

This week the Supreme Court is considering the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act which defines marriage as between one man and one woman as well as California’s Proposition 8 which reaffirmed the definition of marriage.

Now two former employees are calling for Planned Parenthood to shut its doors, describing “ridiculously unsafe” and grossly unsanitary conditions, including bloody operating tables and unsterilized instruments.1 “We’ve come to expect these conditions from the abortion industry which has little to no accountability," reports Nicole Theis, President of Delaware Family Policy Council.

After the gut-wrenching Grand Jury Report exposing Dr. Gosnell in 2011, the Delaware General Assembly moved to inspect clinics passing House Bill 47.2 However, the legislation did not include regular inspections of abortion clinics, a need demonstrated by the Gosnell case.

In an attempt to provide common sense accountability, Representative Debbie Hudson proposed an amendment for annual inspections.3 "We were only three votes away from reasonable accountability that could have stopped Planned Parenthood’s abuses and spared those women the pain they experienced," said Nicole Theis.
Planned Parenthood of DE received over $800,000 for fiscal year 2012, and has already received nearly $300,000 for the first half of FY 2013.4 Governor Markell is recommending in his budget, House Bill 30, that Planned Parenthood receive $104,100 of Tobacco settlement money in addition to government contacts and Grant in Aid funding that they’re already getting.

"We are calling on Delaware lawmakers to stop using our tax money to fund Planned Parenthood as well as remove them from Grant in Aid funding and award that money to more worthy health charities," said Nicole Theis. “There are many health organizations in Delaware worthy of an investment with taxpayer money, but Planned Parenthood is not one of them.”

Nicole Theis, president of Delaware Family Policy Council, expressed concern that the law's vague language and the subjective word "pain" could be used to prosecute parents who spank their children.
"The fact of the matter is that it's written into the law and it very much could be interpreted as prohibiting spanking," Theis said, according to The New American.
"... While we appreciate that it was not the intent of lawmakers to criminalize spanking, we hope that it bides us a little time to make an amendment to the law," Theis said.

President of the Delaware Family Policy Council, Nicole Theis said that the new law would open doors to many questionable practices. She added that women don't want men using their restrooms and locker rooms.
Theis went on to say that if any organization, that is open to the public, refused to allow any gender to enter any bathroom they wish, if they identify with that gender, then the organization could be held in contempt of the law.
