(February 22, 2011) Nick Anastos is eager to get back on the road. An STAA client, Anastos has been hired as the No.2 broadcaster and media relations assistant for the State College Spikes.

Anastos joins State College after spending last season as the No.2 with the Class-A Dayton Dragons. With State College, he will be working alongside veteran Penn State University football and basketball broadcaster Steve Jones, who is also the main play-by-play voice for the Spikes. Anastos will call the middle three innings of play-by-play for all 38 home games and will handle solo play-by-play duties for roughly 20 road games.
"It's a chance to get back on the air more consistently," Anastos says.
The opportunity came for Anastos when, for the second year in a row, the Spikes approached STAA about helping fill the position.
"Nick is one of the outstanding young broadcasters we have at STAA. Couple that with his media relations skills and he'll be a great fit."

Anastos joins Dayton Dragons baseball booth
(March 4, 2010) Nick Anastos is adding affiliated baseball to his growing play-by-play resume. An STAA client, Anastos has joined the Dayton Dragons as No. 2 broadcaster and Assistant Media Relations Director.
The Class-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, the Dragons are one of minor league baseball's model franchises. They have led Class-A in attendance for 10 consecutive years; they hold the all-time Class-A single-season attendance record and have sold out 704 consecutive games. In Dayton, Anastos will be working alongside Dragons' Broadcasting and Media Relations Director Tom Nichols.
"I get to really learn how things are run at the top levels in terms of an organization in the minor leagues," Anastos says.
Anastos has spent the past two seasons as the basketball and baseball broadcaster at NCAA Division I University of Maryland-Eastern Shore while working as a graduate assistant in the university's sports information department. He plans on continuing in those roles. Anastos has also broadcast baseball play-by-play in the independent Can-Am League. He spent last fall as the color analyst on Delaware State University football broadcasts.
The Dayton opportunity came about for Anastos when STAA learned Vispoli had departed.
STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik introduced Anastos to Nichols.
"STAA has put me in contact with different people from different organizations and has increased my personal contacts," Anastos says.
Since becoming a client since 2006, Anastos has also regularly taken advantage of STAA's talent coaching and attended STAA's play-by-play seminar in Las Vegas in 2008.
"The talent coaching has given me different goals to work on, identified area for improvement, provided suggestions on how to make broadcasts more interesting and helped me improve my weaknesses," Anastos says. "It has been very helpful.

(August 10, 2009) STAA client Nick Anastos has been hired as the football analyst on the Delaware State University Radio Network. In addition, Anastos will co-host the Hornets pre and post-game shows.

Anastos is already quite familiar with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. He is preparing for this third season as the basketball play-by-play sportscaster for the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
"I haven't done football for two years now so I'm excited about that," Anastos says. "Also, playing Michigan in October at the Big House is going to be an eye-opener."
With DSU, Anastos will be working alongside Hornets play-by-play broadcaster Scott Klatzkin, who made the hire.
"Nick and I share the same college broadcasting experience, as well, both being able to provide radio coverage in the CAA for four years and I think that connection helped us hit it off right away."
A graduate of Hofstra University, Anastos is a former play-by-play sportscaster for NCAA Division II Bentley College football, and for minor league baseball's Nashua Pride.
"Nick was certainly my top choice, but [STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik's] phone call and recommendation sealed the deal.
