Louis Vuitton has appointed Nicholas Knightly as Louis Vuitton Leather goods Design Director.
Knightly, 35 years old, British, is a graduate of Ravensbourne College of Art and Design.He was previously Head Designer at Margaret Howell and since 2002 Design Director at Mulberry.Knightly will manage the in-house design team for Leather Goods.
Her current head designer is Amy Roberts, hired from John Galliano, while Nicholas Knightly, now the chief designer at Louis Vuitton, and Suzanne Deeken, designer at Marc by Marc Jacobs, are both former Ghost designers.
The Mulberry brand was based in the early nineteen seventies but did not make the transition to coveted luxe status until 2002 when the company employed former head designer Nicholas Knightly to reinvent the previous British label.
