The 85-year-old, who is known to her friends as Nellie, joined the Women's Voluntary Service, which later became the WRVS, on January 6th 1952.She started her days as a volunteer with the Civil Defence before helping out in the shop in the local hospital."As well as working in the shops I have also done Meals on Wheels and I helped out with the Flixborough Disaster making hot drinks and doing what we could to help."I have really enjoyed all the time I have worked for the WRVS but I think it is time to pack it in.It really has been a pleasure to work with the people I have."Nellie's time with the WRVS has not gone unnoticed as last year she was asked to represent the organisation at Normanby Hall when the Queen came to Scunthorpe.Nellie ClarkNellie: smiling as she calls it a day
