Originally from New York City, Neil Garber began his studies with Donald Palma. Now at home in California, Mr. Garber is the Assistant Principal Bass of the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, Principal Bass of Opera Santa Barbara, and the double bass instructor on the faculty of the Music Department at UC Santa Barbara. He is also an active freelance bassist in the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles areas, performing with varied groups including Los Angeles Opera, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and Santa Barbara Oratorio Society.Â

Originally from New York City, Neil Garber began his studies with Donald Palma. After moving to California, Mr. Garber attended USC, receiving a certificate in Advanced Studies. He is an active freelance bassist in the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles areas, performing with varied groups including Opera Santa Barbara, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and Santa Barbara Oratorio Society. He is the double bass instructor at UC Santa Barbara. When not playing or teaching, Neil is an avid cyclist and scuba diver. He also plays the ukulele.
