"Today, you can't be fast enough," observes Nathan Neibauer, president and chief executive officer.
"We were already heavily invested in electronic prepress, with file servers and workflow software," says Neibauer
."We had reached the limit of quality that our imagesetter was capable of producing and wanted the higher quality that is possible by imaging directly to plate."
Like ‘another printer' Neibauer Press currently employs a PlateRite 8000 eight-up platesetter.
"You could think of it as being another printer," Neibauer
says."If the image is set up, trapped and imposed properly, then once it goes from the RIP to the platesetter, the PlateRite becomes another printing device using a different substrate."
Since adopting CTP
, Neibauer Press
has seen a sharp increase in the percentage of jobs received digitally.Eventually, digital transmission will account for 100 percent of customer files, predicts Neibauer
