NEW BRITAIN -- Natalie D. Baldwin, the former treasurer of the Diloreto Elementary School PTA, was arrested Thursday morning on a warrant charging her with embezzling more than $11,000 from the organization's funds over a two-year period. Baldwin

Click Here!> > According to police, Baldwin, an inventory clerk at New Britain General Hospital, said she had fallen on financial hard times and was unsure of where to turn when she was elected treasurer of the PTA in 2003.
Almost immediately, Baldwin
allegedly began taking funds from the PTA
account, stealing in all $11,890.83.
Police said elections were held for a new PTA
board in the spring of 2005, and the reins were due to be turned over to the new board, including a new treasurer, in May.Before the meeting, police said Baldwin
called other board members in tears and said she
didn't want to attend the meeting, then confessed her
told police she
had planned to pay back the money, but there is no indication she
has done so, police said.Baldwin
was presented in court Thursday, where her
case was continued until Sept. 8.She
was released on a $5,000 nonsurety bond.
