Nardos Imam: Dallas Dress Designer Extraordinaire From the top of Reunion Tower to the shores of White Rock Lake, Dallas is a city that knows how to dazzle. And no one knows this better than Dallas dress designer Nardos Imam, who frequently works alongside Eiseman Jewels to create couture wedding fashions for North Texas brides. Originally from Eritrea, Nardos has always been enamored with the art of dressing - even before she went to fashion school. She would often ask her mother, a tailor, to add numerous embellishments to her dresses and frequently took fabric scraps to make dresses for her dolls. nardos 1 Now all grown up, Nardos makes her own embellishments and (full-size) gowns for some of Dallas' most discerning brides. "Breaking into the business was hard," she said. Nardos received her first big break working in the alterations department at Stanley Korshak. It was there she learned how to fit gowns to the shapes, styles and sizes of everyday women and developed her dream of becoming an international designer. "Dallas will always be home base, no matter the growth of the brand," she added. Nardos sources her delicate fabrics from same vendors as high-fashion designers like Marchesa, and she uses the finest materials, such as a type of lace that was prevalent in 19th century France. Her meticulous attention to detail and ability to create a customized gown specifically designed for each bride allows her work to stand out from the crowd. Rarely ever does she sell the same dress twice. nardos 2 "We can create any gown you want," she said, "in the same way that the experts at Eiseman Jewels can help you design the ring of your dreams. To ensure that brides get the gown they desire, Nardos takes the time to sketch out a design in front of the bride that she can then take home, which adds to the hands-on aspect of the custom design process. All dresses are created on-site with no outsourcing, and not a single bride has returned her dress because she's been displeased. "We won't let a woman leave here unless she looks and feels her absolute best," Nardos said. According to Nardos, popular bridal trends this year include glitz and glamour (such as high-end beading with Swarovski crystals), feminine silhouettes, soft colors instead of natural white and bridesmaids dressed in blush. nardos 3 Describing jewels as the "picture frame for the gown," Nardos suggests pairing her one-of-a-kind wedding dresses with baubles available at Eiseman Jewels, including pearls and diamond earrings, bold statement pieces and beautiful, real jewelry. "We strive to produce things you can't wait to put on," Nardos said, adding that a great dress that fits perfectly is truly a treasure. "The wedding is the bride's red carpet," she said. Under our roof you'll find a special treat only we offer-the lovely designs of our in-house designer, Nardos Imam.
Working her way up from custom alterations, Nardos has come a long way from her early upbringings in poverty-stricken Eritrea. Fashion has always interested Nardos. Watching her mother make replicas of the gowns she saw in Vogue, Nardos knew she had a passion for fashion at a young age. At 18 years old, Nardos came to the U.S. to pursue her dreams. Today, she makes custom couture gowns for people of all age. "These women each have their own individual style and I take that into consideration with each custom piece I design," said Nardos. From a Sweet 16 dress, to a gown fit for the Royal Wedding, Nardos incorporates her clients own person style into each and every design she makes. Nardos' unique designs range from $2,000 for cocktail dresses to $3,000 and up for gowns. Call or stop by for a complimentary consultation today! Nardos Imam at Stanley Korshak: 214-871-3456
