Nancy Diefenbach Nancy N. Diefenbach
brings a lifetime love of art to her
work in marble.Her
sculptures are sophisticated and polished works often expressing in gesture a human experience or relationship.By combining abstraction with figurative carving she
explores the spirit of our humanity. Her
fascination with marble arises from the way the stone responds to the chisels, the way the tools create texture and contrasts, and the way marble can be finished to take on a life of its own.
Since 1989 when she
first studied at The Carving Studio & Sculpture Center
in Vermont, Nancy Diefenbach
has concentrated on exploring the possibilities sculpture in marble. However, her career in art began at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia and later she added a Masters Degree in Education of the Gifted and Talented.
Working now as a full-time artist, her
sculptures have received commendations at numerous art exhibitions in Vermont and nationally. Her
public-commissioned marble relief-carvings are installed at the Vermont State Office Building in Springfield, and many other pieces are represented in private collections around the world. Diefenbach's
art is described as having the ability to evoke tender feelings, to be sensually symbolic, to address the family in a reassuring way.Another citation speaks of her
sculptures as splendidly soothing works of contemporary art.
