A Northern California native, Nancy Cota began her extensive career with Safeway 36 years ago.

recently spearheaded the development and launch of Open Nature, an all-natural product line that would not only meet the needs of Safeway's
customers, but her
own needs as well.
also recently launched the Debi Lilly Brand and Pantry Essentials Brand.
responsibilities include understanding consumer behaviors, identifying and addressing consumer needs, and defining and launching large platforms that span across multiple categories throughout the store for consumer brands.
As vice president of innovation, Cota is a recent recipient of Progressive Grocer's Top Women In Grocery and is a member of several professional organizations including the Center for Corporate Innovation, the Retail Product Innovation Council and the Network of Executive Women, Northern California Chapter.
Cota also is an active board member for the nonprofit adoption organization, Angels Heaven, which places older children that need permanent homes.
A breast cancer survivor, Cota is the co-founder and chair for an internal Safeway group called FOCUS, Focused on Cancer Understanding & Support, and is a strong advocate for breast cancer research.
