Najla Amundson, Media Relations Director, NDSU
Najla Amundson has been named public relations manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Fargo. Amundson will direct the company's public information and media relations efforts, develop and carry out general communications strategies for all products, serve as senior editor for internal and external communications, act as company spokeswoman and work with media in the state and region. Before joining BCBSND, Amundson was media relations director and adjunct lecturer of communication at North Dakota State University. She has 15 years of experience in the communication industry which includes her position as news co-anchor and producer at WDAY-TV in Fargo and assistant editor of publications at Minnkota Power Cooperative, account executive at Simmons Advertising and general assignment reporter for WDAZ-TV, all in Grand Forks. Amundson earned her bachelor of science degree in journalism from South Dakota State University, Brookings; a master of science degree in journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and a doctorate in communication from NDSU.
Najla Ghazi Amundson, Media Relations Director for North Dakota State University:
After graduating from SDSU in 1989 with a degree in journalism, Amundson completed her master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Her first job was as a general assignment reporter at WDAZ-TV in Grand Forks, N.D. Later, she taught as an assistant professor in journalism at the University of North Dakota. Amundson's professional experience includes stints as an advertising account executive for McDonald's, a public relations coordinator for a rural electric cooperative, and 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. anchor and producer for WDAY-TV in Fargo. Amundson will graduate in May with a Ph.D in communication from NDSU. She lives in Fargo with her husband Paul.

Frantz resigns after 10 years
NDSU Media Relations Director Najla Amundson said, "I wouldn't characterize it as surprised or not surprised.
Amundson stated that Bruce Bollinger, vice president of finance and administration, and Frantz "sat down for a discussion a couple of days ago and talked about the audit. Amundson then said that the result of this conversation was that Frantz's resignation would be in the best interest for all parties involved. "He was part of this era of tremendous growth, it's what attracted him to the position," Amundson said.
