After his Doctoral studies in Finance at the Sorbonne University in Paris, Mr. Maaloul has held a number of successful Executive Management roles for almost two decades. He earned valuable experience within major financial institutions and governments in the field of Investment Banking and Capital Markets.
Mr. Maaloul's former positions include Managing Directorships with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and AMB-Fortis Bank in Paris; C.E.O. of Cedef Assets Ltd; CEO of Amen Invest S.A., Chairman of Cedef Derivative Products Pty (a large player in the Emerging Markets Inter-banking Brokerage) and Director of Financial Engineering of BBT-Interbanques (CPR/Indosuez Bank Group).
As a result of the experience gained in these prominent positions, Mr. Maaloul was able to take on the role of Adviser to a number of Governments, advising them on several projects, including privatisation programmes, bond issues and re-organisation of financial markets.
He also led several successful deals (M&A, structured financing, listings, etc.) for large corporations and he was instrumental in the UAE's first Islamic mortgage company, Tamweel LLC, back in 2003 when he was Financial Services Advisor of The Corporate Office (Government of Dubai).

Nabil Maaloul is the founder of the Gulf Merchant Group of companies, which comprises Gulf Merchant Bank Limited in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority "DFSA") and Gulf Merchant Group LLP in London, the United Kingdom (authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority "FSA").
