Virginia was the daughter of Lester Anthony and Alice Evelyn ( Ogden ) Smith , born on April 2 , 1918 in Detroit.

Virginia attended First Congregational Church and was a member of the Traverse City Golf and Country Club.She graduated in 1939 from the University of Michigan and was proud to be an Aluminus Emeritus.She loved bridge , music and her family.Virginia particularly took pleasure in her family , looking ever forward to summers all together on Sleeping Bear Bay.The family will always remember her fondly for her beauty , grace , discipline , courage , strength and love.She is survived by her three daughters , Barbara ( George ) Chadwick Kausler of Traverse City , Shirley ( Alan ) Chadwick McDaid of Adrian and Susan ( Robert ) Chadwick Johnson of Huntington , N.Y. Virginia is also survived by her seven grandchildren , Susan ( Jeffry ) , Stacey ( Thomas II ) , Robert ( Sharon ) , Scott ( Melinda ) , Kevin ( Margaret ) , Stephanie , Chadwick ; five great-grandchildren , Elizabeth , Thomas III , Abigail , Amelia and Christopher ; brother , Myron ( Suzanne ) Smith ; sister , Marilyn ( William ) Dewey ; sister-in-law , Mary Jane Smith ; and many nieces and nephews.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents ; husbands ; and brothers , Lester and John R. Smith.A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.A gathering of family and friends will take place in the church Fireside Room at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.The Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue will officiate.
