Muhammad Firdaus, a former student of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Gombak, Batu Caves, Gombak, Selangor, and now in form one at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Pusu, Gombak, was picked among seven other children, for the award."Never did I expect to receive this honour from the government for saving Muhamad Azri," said Muhammad Firdaus, the second of four siblings who obtained 4As and IB in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) last year.He was accompanied by his father, Hariss Abdul Talib, 41, an advertising executive with the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Berhad, to the award presentation ceremony.This year's Children's Day celebration marked the reinstatement of the Pingat Hang Tuah, an award for child heroes which was discontinued 23 years ago, with Muhammad Firdaus as the first recipient.
