Muhammad Firdaus, a former student of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Gombak, Batu Caves, Gombak, Selangor, and now in form one at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Pusu, Gombak, was picked among seven other children, for the award.

This year's Children's Day celebration marked the reinstatement of the Pingat Hang Tuah, an award for child heroes which was discontinued 23 years ago, with Muhammad Firdaus
as the first recipient.
