LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 2, 2015) - Morril Hilton Harriman, counsel at Mitchell Williams, Selig, Gates and Woodyard, P.L.L.C., in Little Rock, Ark., will be honored by the Arkansas Alumni Association at the 71st annual Alumni Awards Celebration to be held on Friday, October 30.
Harriman is a member of the firm's government relations team and is also a member of the University of Arkansas's Board of Trustees.
During the awards ceremony, the Association recognizes those individuals who continue to bring national and local prominence to the University and the Arkansas Alumni Association
through their research, exemplary public and community services, and valued leadership.
The Honorable Morril Hilton Harriman, Jr. graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BA in 1972 and a JD in 1975.
Harriman is a former Chief of Staff for Governor Mike Beebe and has twenty-five years of private law practice.
In addition to serving as the Chief of Staff, Morril has sixteen years of service in the Arkansas State Senate; and six years as President of The Poultry Federation, a multi-state trade association.
led the transition of state government from one administration to another, developed and negotiated bi-partisan support for passage of the Private Option, considered a model for other states; drafted and facilitated the passage of Act 35, the landmark legislation for school reform and accountability; and helped develop policies that assisted in acquiring more land for state conservation and natural preservation purposes than any other administration.
