Our speaker will be Rev. Monta Maki-Curry of St. Mark's Lutheran , North Carolina , Monta is a 1974 graduate of Hickory High School . In 1978 she graduated from Queens College in Charlotte with a B.A. in English.In 1979 Monta won the title of Miss North Carolina , representing her home town of Hickory in the pageant.She continued to compete in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City and won the swimsuit competition. Monta married Smithy Curry, Jr., in 1980.He is managing partner of Horack Talley Attorneys at Law.Over the past twenty years, Monta has been an entrepreneur.She has been president/owner of Furs by Monta and then president and co-owner of Montanna, Inc., a ladies accessory store. In her early thirties, Monta received a call from God to enter into professional ministry.At the age of forty, she entered Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia Rev. Maki-Curry's comments will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by lunch.
