Monique is a Certified Athletic Trainer who has earned her graduate degrees in Biomechanics.
teaches in both the Athletic Training Education and Graduate Biomechanics Programs at Barry University
She is the Coordinator of the graduate program in Biomechanics, Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory, and Director of a Runner's Clinic.
Dr. Mokha received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University in Athletic Training and Health Education, and her Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas specializing in Biomechanics where she also served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Hogs.
She earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree from Texas Woman's University specializing in Biomechanics and completing a related area in Adapted Physical Education/Activity.
Monique's teaching and research focus on applied sport and sport-injury mechanics, and include disability.
She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1989, and uses clinical experiences to guide her research in order to improve athletic performance and/or understand sport injury.
With the help of two graduate students, she
started the Runner's Clinic
in the spring of 2005 ( www.barry.edu/runnersclinic), a service that provides a comprehensive biomechanics analysis to South Florida runners.
She is editor for the column, Disability and Special Needs in the journal, Athletic Therapy Today; Recent chair of NASPE's National Council on Athletic Training; and Co-chair of the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association's Research and Education Committee.
She served on the Executive Board for ACSM's Biomechanics Interest Group (2002-2005), and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport, American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
has presented at the state, regional, national and international levels in the areas of sport performance and sport injury.
has published textbook chapters on gait analysis, and sports medicine for special populations.
has published articles or abstracts in Athletic Therapy Today
