Monica Poe, MVA, GVA (Founder) is Principal Virtual Assistant, VA Coach and Instructor of MoPoe & AssociatesSM . Monica's entrepreneurial journey actually begin when she was 17 years old.
While working for an employer, she started Monica's Secretarial Service part-time after realizing there was a need for a non-traditional secretary for small to mid-size, home-based businesses and individuals as well.
administrative career, she
was nicknamed the on the side secretary and was the go to girl for entrepreneurs and individuals who needed a secretary on an as needed basis.
was also approached by employers to do special projects and end of the year projects periodically.
In late 2005, a series of unfortunate events turned out to be a most opportune time.
lost the job that she
loved due to the company closing it's doors and at the same time found out she
had a retinal detachment and needed to have immediate eye surgery to prevent blindness.
After recovering, she
decided to turn her
first love into a full-fledge business.
So in the Spring of 2006, the former Monica's Secretarial Service was formed into MoPoe & AssociatesSM
works with her
husband, associate virtual assistants and a team of industry specific experts to accomplish her
mission of supporting and educating entrepreneurs and business professionals to their business success.
has over 20 years in the administrative profession.
diversed work background consists of working with non-profit organizations, city transit, public schools, health care, real estate management, worked part-time for her
husband's consulting business and even dabbled in retail.
Monica is a Certified Master Virtual Assistant and a graduate of Virtual Assistance U, which is recognized as "The Benchmark of VA Training".
She is also a Certified (NCLB) Paraprofessional with the Illinois State Board of Education and an Adjunct College Instructor for Black Hawk College.
Monica currently serves on the Black Hawk College Business Education Advisory Committee and is a member of the International Virtual Assistants Association and the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
was a keynote speaker for the International Association of Administrative Professionals
and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her
presentation "Virtual Assistants and the Industries They Support".
She was also a guest speaker at Black Hawk College's announcement of their new Virtual Office Assistant Certificate Program.
