BRIDGE Housing Appoints Monica Edwards CDFI President SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 4, 2017-BRIDGE Housing has appointed Monica Edwards as President of BRIDGE Impact Capital, its CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) affiliate, effective April 3, 2017. Ms. Edwards will lead the charge in raising capital for real estate developments that improve affordable housing, educational, health and economic opportunities for low-income communities. She is based in San Francisco and reports to EVP and Chief Investment Officer Diane Olmstead. BRIDGE is a nationally recognized nonprofit developer, owner and manager of affordable housing. Previously, Ms. Edwards was President of The Monarch Group, a consultancy providing structured finance and portfolio management to institutional clients, with a specialty practice in New Markets Tax Credits and economic development. While there, she secured more than $225 million in local, state and federal subsidies for businesses and real estate development projects with over $1 billion in total development costs. She has served as Chief Investment Officer for ICA Fund Good Jobs, which invests in high-growth small businesses to create accessible good jobs. Earlier, she was Vice President, Citibank Community Development Investments, where she managed a $300+ million community development and private equity loan portfolio. Ms. Edwards holds an AB in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA (Finance) from Clark Atlanta University, and she is a graduate of the University of Southern California's Ross Minority Program in Real Estate. Ms. Edwards is president of The Monarch Group, an independent consultancy in private equity and finance. The focus of her practice is structuring tax-advantaged transactions on behalf of developers and assisting in the management and deployment of New Markets Tax Credits allocations for community development entities. The firm's geographic focus is California and the Gulf Opportunity Zone (GO Zone), and she has closed over $200 million in mixed-use real estate development projects in the nation's Gulf Coast areas. Ms. Edwards received her Master's in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University, with an emphasis in Finance. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Princeton University, and also completed University of Southern California's certificate program in real estate development.
