MOISES WEINSTOCK
MACCABI WORLD UNION MOISES WEINSTOCK Moises (Mickey) Weinstock joined the famous "El Depor" [CDI~Centro Deportivo Israelita] in Mexico City in 1966. During his first years in the organization, he and his friends worked vigorously in order to attract the Community´s youngsters Macabi Tzair activities and to Maccabi~Zionist ideals. In the early 1970´s when he was the Executive Committee´s Vice-President, Mickey, he planned the Community's first sports center at Tepotzotlán. In 1978, he rose to the Presidency of Maccabi Mexico and Chaired the Maccabi Mexico Games, and in 1985 led the Mexican Maccabiah Delegation. During 5 terms of office as Chairman of the CDI Board of Directors, he was the mentor and guide of a whole generation of leaders. His efforts were noted for a tightening of the sense of kinship with Israel through Zionist sports, and for transforming "El Depor" into the center of the Jewish Community. Towards 2000, he headed the project to renovate the main structure, making it a warm and secure home for the Jewish Community, and he is today a Member of the Board of Kfar Maccabiah.
