JASPER COUNTY - by Steve W. Stewart/KJAS - Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said on Wednesday evening that he and his deputies have recovered merchandise from a string of burglaries in north Jasper County, and more stolen items were being recovered late Wednesday night and into early Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the man responsible for the burglaries, according to Newman
, is the same man who allegedly ran from officers on Saturday evening, and was captured a few hours later.
According to Sheriff Newman, an investigation had been underway after several campsites were burglarized in the Hog Creek Hunting Club on County Road 82, near State Highway 63 West.
said that evidence gathered in the investigation led them to 31-year-old Michael Granger, who was already in the Jasper County
Jail after he
allegedly ran from deputies Saturday evening on Highway 190 near Dam B, and was captured a few hours later at a residence on County Road 155.
said they interviewed Granger,
Sheriff Newman said fishing equipment was recovered.
