Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman called the actions of terrorists in France responsible for the deaths of 17 people from Jan. 7 through Jan. 9 "sickening," mourned the loss of fellow law enforcers across the nation and warned people to obey officers' commands in order to avoid a bad situation.

"We have had cops murdered across the country for no reason...it could be any of us," Newman

After opining about the national and international states of affairs, Newman
reported that a 48-year-old Jasper County
man lost his
life as the result of a house fire on CR 777 near Evadale on January 12.
