By the end of the first lap, the #5 Karl Hoffses car with fifteen year old Mitch Hoffses at the wheel, had come from his outside row three starting position to take over second spot. Fisher continued to lead until lap three when Hoffses slipped by him, with Darren Linder in the #6 entry in third. Hoffses led the rest of the way, followed at the end by Forler, Fisher, Linder, Dave Hoene in his #24 VW, and Kerstin Smutny in the other Atkinson Racing entry. On the restart there was more three abreast racing but this time everyone made it through with Darren Linder leading at the end of the first lap followed by Brea Lopez, Mark Atkinson, Spence Gatrell and Mitch Hoffses in fifth. By lap five, Spence Gatrell was in third, followed by Hoffses, Tony Seidelman, Linder, Kerstin Smutny, Hoene, Forler and Fisher. Linder was third followed by Smutny in fourth, Forler and Hoffses. Both Rick Brown and Mitch Hoffses were unable to qualify because of mechanical woes but the crews were able to get repairs made before the racing began. By the end of one circuit, rookie Mitch Hoffses, in the Hoffses Hawk/Profab Chevy had come from his sixth starting position to take second place behind Fisher. Hoffses grabbed the lead one lap later followed by yet another WMRA rookie, Logan Forler in the Steve Forler Beast/Pink Ford. On turn four of the last lap Gatrell slowing with a badly blistered right rear, Hoffses and Forler got together with Gatrell spinning, dropping him from fifth place to tenth. Seidelman was fourth, followed by Hoffses, Forler, Brown, Smutny and Linder. Mitch Hoffses, Hoffses #5 - NT Hoffses, 2. Hoffses, 6. Margeson got his fourth win Saturday in the Harold and Verda Beal Beast/Pink Ford, dominating the feature and coming in about a half lap ahead of runner up Mitch Hoffses in the green to checkered event. The event began with Hoffses, another rookie, in the Karl Hoffses Hawk/Profab Chevy, setting fast time with a super quick 14.398 lap, breaking the track record held by the late Rory Price, set in 1999, the last time the WMRA held an event at the quarter mile track. Skeeter Flake made his first WMRA appearance of the year, driving the Ken Muth Ultramotive Nissan to a convincing victory in the A dash from his pole position starting spot. Second across the line was Tony Seidelman driving his dad, Glen's Hawk/Sage Chevy followed by Atkinson in the Forler Trucking and Massage sponsored Beast/Esslinger and Hoffses. On the first lap of heat two, Hoffses made a great move, coming from the outside of the second row to the lead. The race ended with Hoffses taking the win, followed by Seidelman, Atkinson and Flake. By the fifth lap, Margeson led by about five car lengths and a heated battle for the runner-up spot was developing between Forler, Hoffses, Globe and Atkinson. After Atkinson got under Globe on lap seven, the running order was Margeson, Forler, Hoffses, Atkinson, Globe and Smutny. At the finish, Margeson had almost a half lap lead over Hoffses who was followed by Forler, Atkinson, Globe and Smutny. Mitch Hoffses, Hoffses #5 - 14.398, 2. Hoffses Hoffses, 2. Hoffses, 3. The B dash was captured by fifteen year old rookie, Mitch Hoffses in his dad's Hawk/Gaerte who dove under Kerstin Smutny, in the other Atkinson entry from his inside back row starting spot on the start. Hoffses got under Globe for second place on lap three with Flake moving to third place two laps later. In the mix up, Hoffses and Seidelman also got together and came to a stop. By the end of the first lap, Atkinson was in third, followed by Flake, Hoffses, Berry and Seidelman. On lap nine, Seidelman got around Hoffses for the third position. There were no further position changes until lap thirteen when Hoffses spun out between the first and second urn. Sixth place was Hoffses with Flake in seventh and Smutny in eighth. Mitch Hoffses #5, 13.780 - Hoffses Hawk/Profab Chevy, 8. Skeeter Flake #14, 14.052 - Muth Ultramotive/Nissan, 9. Hoffses, 2. Flake, 3. Hoffses, 3. Flake, 4. Hoffses, 7. Flake, 8. The caution unfurled once again upon the Lap 1 restart when 15-year-old Mitch Hoffses spun the #5 Karl Hoffses Hawk/Gaerte. Viktor Sinzig claimed Heat 3 in the DMS Race Products #11d Beast/Esslinger over Atkinson, Grewohl, Margeson and Hoffses. Mitch Hoffses (6), 18. Mitch Hoffses, 6. Brea Lopez, 7. Mitch Hoffses, 5, 14.967; 7. Margeson started the last WMRA event for 2008 with fast time, with Mitch Hoffses in the Hoffses Hawk/Profab Chevy, Mark Atkinson in the Atkinson Racing Beast/Esslinger and Brea Lopez in the Press Beast/Esslinger all within a tenth of a second of Margeson's 13.231 mark. In turn two of lap two contact was made in the tightly bunch group resulting in a chain reaction that saw Berry, Hoffses and Lopez retire to the pits. They were followed by Flake, Hoffses, Lopez, Smutny and Berry. On the twelfth circuit, Margeson was able to get under Atkinson while Lopez was doing the same to Hoffses.
