About Millie McCarty

Millie McCarty
Widely known in Ohio as a counselor and teacher, Millie's 40 years of experience as a Director of Christian Education, Parenting Educator and Human Relations Trainer added depth and understanding to her counseling and leadership in directing a major therapy system. She is gifted in spiritual discernment and skilled in clinical and biblical principles of inner healing. Recognized for her successful treatment of Dissociative Disorders, Millie's groundbreaking work in the areas of Early Childhood Sexual and Ritual Abuse and Dissociative Identity Disorder, has brought healing and restoration through faith in Christ Jesus to thousands of Adult Victims of Childhood Sexual Trauma.
Graduating Cum Laude from Defiance College with a B.A. Degree in Religious Education, Millie went on to receive her M.A Degree in Guidance and Counseling from The Ohio State University in 1981 and became a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in 1985. She founded Lighthouse Christian Counseling in 1981 and served as President and Executive Director for 20 years. Millie retired from counseling in 2002, to write and teach. During her retirement, she was ordained and served as a pastor in a small Methodist church. She completed the writing of Pathways To Hope and Healing, and field tested it through 2007, teaching it at Zoe Bible Institute, Freedom Bible College.
Why We Can't "Just Get Over It" was the textbook written in 2008 into a systematic approach to working with trauma survivors using the research gleaned from many resources and studies related the events of Ruth's life. This research along with Pathways to Hope and Healing, a combination of biblical principles and professional strategies, are used to formulate the systematic healing process Millie calls L'ORh ("In His Light is His Light"). In 2010, the two curriculum books (Pathways and Just Get Over It) were combined to create a week-long training that could be taken to China. This was so successful, teams have taught it several times in China, Jamaica, Ethiopia and Rwanda, with multitudes receiving freedom from lifetime consequences as a result of past trauma.
RUTH: Secrets of the Silenced Voices: A Guide to Working with People with Dissociative Identity Disorders is the case study resource for the professional counselors and caregivers who take her 48 hour course that will provide the training necessary to prepare them for certification as a Certified Abuse Counselor through the International Institute for Abuse Counseling.
Millie has trained many teachers, trainers and counselors who will now carry on the work of Hope and Healing through Compassionate Care Training Centers in America and abroad, while she teaches professional counselors and pastors and others through International Institute for Abuse Counseling, Inc.

I am so impressed with this program, I plan to keep several copies of the book in the office, so we can provide them to the parents we serve. - - Millie McCarty, M.A., L.P.C., President & Executive Director, Lighthouse Counseling Inc., OH
