Mike's interest in recording started in 1984 as a teenager in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.As a sax player in a horn-based rock band, he
met other bands and began recording them.After high school graduation Mike jump started his
career by doing live sound for concerts at Milwaukee's Shank Hall.
received top marks and was exposed to state of the art equipment and techniques as well as being taught by a long list of famous guest engineers.
Upon graduation from Full Sail, Mike
began an internship at Smart Studios in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.For the next seven years Mike
grew from Second Engineer to Engineer / Producer.Along the way he
acted as an assistant / apprentice to world- renown producer But Vig and the other fine engineers on the staff.Smart acts as the home-base studio for the band Garbage and Mike
spent many months each year working on album projects for that band and enjoying their success.
Eventually taking over the position of Chief Engineer, Mike's role at Smart evolved into one that involved everything from installing and teching equipment to showing the freelance engineers their way around the studio and it be idiosyncrasies.
By Y2K Mike was ready to enter a larger market.The move to Chicago brought him to Gravity Studios.Through common friends, Mike
one day ended up having coffee with the Gravity crew, within a few months he
was a full fledged staff member working with his
long-time client The Promise Ring.
