Mike Whiteside, co-owner of Black Dog Salvage and co-star of the "Salvage Dawgs" television show takes a break Thursday during his salvage work at the former St. Agatha's Catholic Church in Ellwood City.
...
Mike Whiteside, a co-star on the show and co-owner of the salvage company, said CVS contacted Black Dog Salvage to gather some of the former church’s treasures.
“A church means so much to people, and we respect that, he said Thursday during a break from his work at the site. “The items that we salvage will live on for more than 100 years. We preserve history. CVS is respectful of how this stuff is treated. They want to be good neighbors and save as much as can be saved."
Whiteside said Black Dog Salvage markets all of its findings online.
“It all sells well, he said.
...
Whiteside said his crew has salvaged the majority of the St. Agatha’s stained glass windows and other interesting pieces.
A number of locals have stopped to talk to Whiteside about the church. One man told him that he was baptized there, then pointed to another area and said, “The confessional was there. I spent a lot of time in there.
Whiteside said temperatures around 10 degrees in Elwood City were tough on him because he’s a warm weather guy, but there’s plenty that he likes about his job.
