Coventry, RI native and 7-time NWMT champion Mike Stefanik will be part of the starting field. After parting ways with the #22 Christopher Our owned team after the 2013 season, Stefanik has been driving part time for Ed Marcau's #1 Cady's Tavern team and there couldn't be a better track for Stefanik to add to his part-time schedule. After parting ways with the #22 Christopher Our owned team after the 2013 season, Stefanik has been driving part time for Ed Marcau's #1 Cady's Tavern team and there couldn't be a better track for Stefanik to add to his part-time schedule.

Stefanik began his racing career at Stafford in the LM-Sportsman class in the late '70's and he later moved into the weekly modified division while also competing on the Whelen Modified Tour. The list of accomplishments that Stefanik has amassed over his career at Stafford are truly astronomical. Stefanik has made 451 career NWMT starts with 95 of them coming at Stafford for a percentage of 21%. In a little less than one-fourth of his career starts, consider what Stefanik has accomplished at Stafford in an Whelen Modified Tour car: he has recorded 20 of his 74 career wins, which is 27%; he has won 17 of his 48 career pole positions, which is 35%; he has recorded 50 of his 223 career top-5 and 74 of his 300 career top-10 finishes at Stafford, which equates to 22% and 25%. In his 95 career Stafford starts, Stefanik has led 165 of the 13,697 laps that he has completed which is 16%. In addition to his NWMT exploits at Stafford, Stefanik is a 2-time Stafford track champion; winning a LM-Sportsman title in 1979 and a Modified track title in 1986 when Stafford ran both Tour Type Modifieds as well as SK Modifieds® as weekly divisions. Stefanik's last Stafford victory came in the 2008 Fall Final but he is feeling good about his chances of being in contention for career victory number 21 at the Connecticut half-mile facility.

(Stafford Springs, CT)---If it's the end of a season, that means it's time for the CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend at Stafford Motor Speedway, which means that Mike Stefanik will be counted among the favorites to take home the winner's trophy. Stefanik is the two-time defending champion of the race, and of his 20 career victories at Stafford, 8 have come in the Fall Final event.
"I don't really know how to explain that," said Stefanik. "I do like to race in the cooler temperatures, it's more comfortable in the car."
Normally when discussing Mike Stefanik and the end of a season in the same sentence, it usually relates to the fight for the championship. But this year, Stefanik currently sits 6th in the standings, 276 points behind Ted Christopher.
With only two races left on the 2009 schedule, Stefanik is not in contention for an eighth Whelen Modified Tour championship this year, but that has not dampened his drive to win races.
"We're not in the championship chase this year, so there is no pressure there," said Stefanik.
"I think the keys to winning this weekend will be the same as always," said Stefanik. "You need to have a car that will rock and roll through the corners at Stafford, you can't make any mistakes, and you need to start the race up front. Normally our races are positioning yourself for the pit stop and then whoever among the premier cars of the race gets off pit road first is usually the way to go. But like I said earlier, with the position we're in, we can afford to gamble and take a chance on our strategy that maybe some others can't."
Although the championship might not be in the cards for Stefanik and his team this year, they have a firm outlook out finishing out the 2009 season strong to carry over into the 2010 season.
"Winning last week was really a relief for me," said Stefanik.

MIKE STEFANIK TO BE HONORED AT MAY 23 TSI HARLEY-DAVIDSON 150 AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY SMS ONLINE: Seven-Time Champion Stefanik to be Honored at Stafford NASCAR to Recognize Modified Great on May 23

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 16, 2008) - As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, seven-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Mike Stefanik will be honored at the TSI Harley-Davidson 150 on Friday, May 23 at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway. A resident of Coventry, R.I., Stefanik is the winningest driver in the history of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and he was also named to the "NASCAR All-Time Modified Top 10 Drivers" list in 2003.
Since the tour's inception in 1985, Stefanik has experienced unparalleled success.
"I'm not a big nostalgic person and into statistics and all of that, but someday it's going to be very exciting for me to realize that [the accomplishments] and enjoy it for what it is," Stefanik said.
Stefanik also made 26 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series from 1992-2000 and had the same amount of starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series during the 1998-99 seasons. Stefanik earned Raybestos Rookie of the Year honors in 1999 when he finished 13th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings.
In one of the more dominant two-year runs of any driver in the history of NASCAR racing, Stefanik captured back-to-back titles in both the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the NASCAR Camping World Series East in 1997 and 1998. In a Modified, Stefanik compiled 22 wins and 30 top-fives in 55 races en route to his third and fourth championships in that division. During that same time span in the stock cars of the NASCAR Camping World Series East he recorded six wins and 31 top-10s in 39 starts to earn consecutive points titles.
With his seven NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titles and two NASCAR Camping World Series East crowns, Stefanik is currently tied with the late Richie Evans for the most championships in the history of NASCAR racing.
Stefanik, who will turn 50 on May 20, has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. He finished fourth in the Spring Sizzler at Stafford on April 27 and is just two years removed from his most-recent points title.
In addition to Stefanik's stellar NASCAR Touring driving record, his career at Stafford has been as equally impressive. Stefanik has a total of 33 career victories at Stafford, with his first victory coming on June 9, 1978 in the Late Model Sportsman division, and his most recent victory coming in the CARQUEST Fall Final NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event on September 30 of last year. Stefanik has a total of 19 Whelen Modified Tour feature wins, 11 Late Model Sportsman wins, 2 Camping World East Series wins, and one Modified victory. Of Stefanik's 19 Whelen Modified Tour feature wins, 4 of them are Tech-Net Spring Sizzler victories, a record that was just tied by Ted Christopher one month ago. The May 23 TSI Harley-Davidsion 150 will be run nearly 30 years to the day later of Stefanik's first career Stafford victory. Stefanik is also the 1979 Stafford Motor Speedway Late Model Sportsman track champion and the 1986 Stafford Motor Speedway Modified track champion.
"I'm thrilled just to be racing anything, and to be involved with the program that we have is fantastic," Stefanik said.

Although Christopher has outdistanced himself from any other driver in track history in terms of total wins, Mike Stefanik is the all-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins leader at Stafford.

With four top-five finishes in seven starts this year, Stefanik should be a contender when the green flag drops Friday night.
