Mike Shonsey is president of Bassett Feeding, Inc., a cattle and farming operation in north central Nebraska.
He has served on the boards of several small rural banks and was president of a home health-care company in Omaha, Neb. In 2004 he unsuccessfully ran for the House District 7 seat of the Wyoming State Legislature.
He has a master's degree in American folk culture from the Cooperstown Graduate Program and was the first folk arts coordinator for the Colorado Council for the Arts and Humanities.
He has served as panelist for the National Heritage Awards and on several panels for National Endowment for the Arts.
He was a founder and the first coordinator for Nebraskans for Peace.
Shonsey lives in Cheyenne, Wyo., with his
daughter is a recently returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Mali (West Africa).
