Printech's owners, Jack and Linda Hodgkiss, Mike Reimer of Boynton Beach, Fla., the inventor of the strip, and representatives of the National Technology Transfer Center, which brought the product from concept to production, were on hand Friday morning to show how the test strips are manufactured.

Reimer said they don't indicate concentrations of dangerous chemicals, only that they are present. When in use, they last about 12 hours and have a shelf life of about two years, he said.
The idea for the test strips took root last summer when Reimer sketched it on a napkin at TJ's Sports Garden in Wheeling, Allen said.
Reimer, who has 17 years experience as a hazardous materials technician in Florida, is head of Safety Solutions Inc.
ERT program personnel assisted Reimer from concept through commercialization, "ensuring that the HazMat Smart Strip will be available to help save lives everywhere," Allen said.
Reimer told NTTC officials he wanted to see the strips manufactured by a firm that could make a "world class product at a world class price."

The last word from Broward County, Florida is the remaining suspect from the training and certification scandal involving Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue is Michael T. Reimer. According to news reports, Reimer recently resigned from the fire department and has continued to run Safety Solutions out of Boynton Beach. Reimer's firm is accused of providing phony training documentation.
A search of the web shows that Michael Reimer and Safety Solutions also have provided training for the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams.
It can plunge through solid concrete," said Mike Reimer of Safety Solutions, as he demonstrates how the machine can cut through solid rebar in a few seconds.
Teams go into the ruins and dig with $3 million worth of equipment. "They need to know building construction, how to use tools effectively, how to prevent further collapse," said Reimer.
Here's what the articles are now saying about Michael Reimer and Safety Solutions.
Batista allegedly also made a phony card for Michael Reimer, a city firefighter who recently resigned and faces charges of uttering a forged document, grand theft and official misconduct, police said.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Loleski and the other accused firefighters received their ACLS cards from a company called Safety Solution Inc., owned by Michael Reimer, which was not approved to teach the advanced cardiovascular life support course, stated the affidavit.
The cards of Loleski, Reimer, Jones and Perri all contained similar, suspicious characteristics including the name of a non-authorized instructor, Freddie Batista, stated the affidavit.
As a result of the fake cards, the affidavit stated, Reimer and Jones received the 15-percent pay incentive and Loleski received the 10-percent.
Reimer is president of Boynton Beach-based Safety Solutions LLC, an internationally recognized safety company he founded in 1996.
At this time, the remaining subject that is still at large is Michael T. Reimer. His whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Prairie Food Innovation started ... [cached]

Prairie Food Innovation started as a business plan developed by Michael Reimer and Manish Kaushal for the Asper School of Business' Stu Clark Investment Competition.

We wanted to focus on the innovation part, because that's one thing large companies have a hard time doing," explains CEO Michael Reimer.
Reimer, who has an undergraduate degree in nutrition and a master's degree in food science, was able to share what makes PFI different from other gluten-free product producers, "A lot of gluten-free products use high-processed flour.
Right now, Prairie Food Innovation is focusing on their two products (pitas and pizza crust), as Reimer and Kaushal acknowledge the challenges they face.
Reimer says the biggest hurdle they need to overcome is on the production side. PFI currently uses shared locations to produce their products because opening their own bakery would be a significant and costly investment.
Looking forward, PFI definitely wants to diversify their product line with bagels, flatbreads, and other baked products. "We want to start making products that have a blend of bean flour and regular wheat flour. Doing so will provide a high-quality protein, which is missing with strictly plant proteins," explains Reimer.
PFI is certainly onto something with they way they're transforming the food industry and creating healthy choices for those who are gluten-free. We can only hope other gluten-free producers learn from them and become more conscious about providing healthier alternatives.
