...Mike's broadcasting career began in the 1970's as a part time announcer on KLO radio in Ogden, Utah, followed by other radio positions around the country.He
later began delivering morning radio forecasts for over 40 radio stations in the western United States and Canada for Weatherbank, Inc.
in Salt Lake City, Utah.His
"television break" came at KUTV
, the NBC affiliate (at the time) in Salt Lake, where he
appeared on morning, noon and afternoon broadcasts.While working at KUTV, Mike received his Bachelors degree in meteorology, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Utah. (He will receive a Masters degree in geosciences in August 2000.)In 1987, Mike accepted an offer to establish an in-house meteorological department at 11 News, and has remained Chief Meteorologist since. Mike
has been awarded the AMS Seal in both radio and television, as well as weather certification from the National Weather Association
.He has served as both Vice President and President of the Pikes Peak chapter of the American Meteorology Society, and as Chair of the Board of Broadcast Meteorology for the national organization.
In addition to his
work with the 11 News
Storm Team, Mike
prepares and voices national weathercasts weekdays, and the program "Technology Today
" weekends for BusinessTalkradio.Net. Mike
wife Linda have been married for over 20 years and have three children.
