Michael David Evans was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1947 to a non-practicing Jewish mother whose parents were immigrants from the Soviet Union.
Following his discharge from the United States Army, Evans moved to Texas where he earned an Associate of Arts degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God College.
