"I remember the days when my son was a Goliad student going over those chug holes after it rained," said Big Spring Independent School District Board President Mike Dawson.Dawson, a Texas Department of Safety trooper, originally conceived of the idea after noticing piled millings that had been donated to the county to help it repair it roads.
After speaking with Moore, Dawson
contacted county officials to work out an agreement to use the millings.
"We've got a couple of parking lots needing work at Bauer
, but Goliad was the one most needed at this time," said Dawson
, who added, "We're now selling football tickets at the athletic training center instead of the business office. That area at the ATC will be seeing more traffic. That or Bauer
will probably be next for the asphalt millings."
"I want to thank Johnny Moore and the county commissioners, Darrel Nichols (Howard County Road Foreman) and Eddy Jameson (Howard County Road and Bridge Administrator) for their help in this project," Dawson
