Mike Castellucci, Good Morning Texas Co-host, will be Master of Ceremonies at the Royse City Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014. Mike Castellucci says he is absolutely thrilled to be back at WFAA and working in North Texas.
This marks Mike's second tour of duty with the Dallas/Fort Worth television station. He joined WFAA back in 2003 working for more than five years as the station's esteemed "Why Guy. He specialized in continually uncovering stories focused on what Mike calls the "human condition" - the who, what, where, and why, (especially "why"), of what makes Texans tick. From a cemetary where an outer space alien is buried, to Stonehenge II, to the cathedral of junk, Mike found it and shared it with us.
He also produced and hosted a series of award-winning half hour specials on WFAA called "Why-TV. Some of the most memorable segments that Mike created during his first tenure at WFAA included his "Home Office" interviews. Basically he found a space in the middle of the Mixmaster, set up the world's only outdoor cubicle complete with rotary dial telephone and file cabinet, and interviewed folks.
There were also the early morning Alarm Clock Pep Rallies. Mike and crew traveled all over North Texas, visiting over 60 high schools with a high octane televised pep rallies that turned in to unpredicable community wake up calls and local celebrations. Many a professional football player remembers the Alarm Clock Pep Rally as one of the highlights of their high school days.
Castellucci left the station in 2008 for sunny San Diego where he spent the past five years working as the live morning reporter on Good Morning San Diego. He continued the tradition of Alarm Clock Pep Rallies and the world's only outdoor cubicle where such luminaries as Cloris Leachmann, Marvin Hamlisch, Drew Brees, and a penguin from Sea World visited. Earlier in his career, Mike worked for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles where he was recognized with four Emmy Awards for his reporting. In fact, between his work in Dallas - Fort Worth and California, Castellucci has been honored with an impressive 18 Emmy Awards.
He and his wife love their beagle family and he enjoys learning the art of oil painting.

Joining the festivities at this year's July Fourth Parade is KUSI TV's Mike Castellucci, longtime news anchor and Emmy winning host of the unique morning show, "The Office."
Television news celebrity Mike Castellucci will ride in the 64th Annual Independence Day Parade on July 4th as guest of the Coronado Brewing Company. Here he is seen with the three Emmys he received last week acknowledging professional excellence as a television journalist. Photo courtesy of KUSI TV-51 and Mike Castellucci.
Castellucci will ride in the parade as special guest of the Coronado Brewing Company. He will carry the official designation of, "co-pilot and navigator" in CBC's 1924 Model T beer truck, "Olive Oyl," said Ron Chapman, co-founder and CEO of the restaurant and brewery.
The 64th Annual Independence Day Holiday Parade falls on a Wednesday this year, with a theme of, "America's People. The parade will run from 10 a.m. until noon on July 4th.
"I had the honor to ride in last December's Holiday Parade," said Castellucci," and it was so much fun that when I got the invitation to ride in the Independence Day Parade I jumped at the chance. I love Coronado, and I'm really looking forward to this."
Castellucci's morning show carries him all over San Diego County. He did a small piece for the evening news on his Coronado parade experience last December, while riding in the Coronado Brewing Company's Model T beer truck. This year he is trying to put together a live broadcast where he would walk the staging areas and talk to parade entries and spectators before the parade.
"The Office," finds the witty newsman in a variety of locations, where he broadcasts live from various communities in San Diego County by setting up a desk, lamp, file cabinet, bowling pin and other comical office props. It's a unique way to tell a community story and involve people, and has been very well received.
Castellucci received three Emmys last week for excellence in his craft - for "Outstanding Magazine Program" (a half-hour special called "Flipped Out" that he did entirely on his Flip camera), for "Writing," and for "On-Camera Performer."
The little Coronado beer truck has achieved somewhat iconic status on the island. She patrols the streets of Coronado all year long, logging roughly 100 miles a week. Here she is seen in a past Coronado July Fourth Parade.
Castellucci has broadcast numerous times from Coronado, including live packages at the Coronado Brewing Company and the newly restored Village Theatre. In May he did a short film on the ferryboat Silvergate that carries pedestrians and bicyclists back and forth across the bay. That film can be viewed at:
