Mike Blake Mike Blake has lived across America, and is a former resident of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He also has lived on both coasts and in the Midwest. Mike began working at Carlisle Events in 2004, taking over as Senior Automotive Journalist for the nationwide column “All About Cars,� for which he happily test drives some 60 vehicles a year on roads, highways and test tracks across America. Mike also served as Carlisle Events’ on-air spokesperson and appeared on a weekly live TV automotive segment on the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, CBS affiliate, WHP-21 TV. While with Carlisle full-time, Mike also helped bring to market Carlisle Events’ auction series, wrote more than a dozen TV and radio commercials and also scripted SpeedChannel’s successful series: “Cars at Carlisle.� He can be seen smoking tires in a hot Mustang and a sweet Corvette on Carlisle Events’ autocross course during two segments. Leaving Carlisle Events as a full-time staff member in 2007, he continued to stay within the Carlisle Events family and has now written more than 450 weekly columns and special-information pieces for “All About Cars� and the dozens of newspapers that carry the column.
Mike came to Carlisle Events from Michigan, by way of California, where he worked for Primedia Publications as editor of “Kit Carâ€� and “Kit Car Illustratedâ€� magazines, after a stint as Assistant Editor for “Vetteâ€�. Mike earned his journalism spurs as a reporter-editor-feature writer for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner newspaper, and he wrote some 600 articles as a freelance writer. While freelancing, Blake wrote three informational films for the US Air Force and has had one theatrical screenplay and one teleplay optioned. He also authored six books â€" four on baseball, one on a WWII death camp survivor and one on a Denver industrialist (this book was used in evidence against the industrialist at the defendant’s trial). As a freelancer, he also served as U.S. baseball correspondent for Sankei Baseball Monthly, Japan; and was the voice of American Sports in Japan, speaking a column he wrote, for the English language teaching program: “News/Sports USAâ€�. Blake also served as managing editor and consultant for the Nasdaq newspaper, “The Investment Reporter.â€� While on the book promotion scene, Mike appeared on some 400 live TV and radio broadcasts including “The Larry King Show,â€� “Tom Snyder Showâ€� and “Up Close with Roy Firestone.â€�
