Mickey Clute, managing partner of Arrowhead Development Co., the park's private developer, said the requirement that a company be tied to NMSU is a two-edged sword in recruiting.

"Instead of a general market, it's a fairly focused market," Clute said.
Still, it's an attraction for companies that need links to NMSU, he said.
Clute said it may take 10 to 15 years to fully develop the park.
Arrowhead Development has spent more than $6 million on the park, mostly constructing buildings, Clute said.

The developers will invest about $1.7 million in the next building, slated to open in the fall, said Mickey Clute, president of Las Cruces construction company GenCon Corp. and managing member of Arrowhead Development. The new project will be built on spec (speculation) to give Arrowhead marketers more flexibility to recruit tenants.

"We need space available for companies as they show up," Clute said.
"We'll build it and then lease it to the Las Cruces Public Schools," Clute said.

"We are currently in the early stages of creating momentum," says Mickey Clute, managing member of Arrowhead Development, the company chosen by NMSU to develop the park. Clute and others involved with Arrowhead Development, including Lee Atchison and Danny Villanueva each have strong ties to NMSU.

"If we are successful in this phase, that makes it easier to develop the next 180 acres when we go to sell this to other potential tenants," says Clute, who confirmed that talks are underway with several companies interested in moving to the park.
