Michelle Reinen, Bureau of Consumer Protection, State of Wisconsin
Michelle Reinen is the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection. As the Bureau Director, Michelle is responsible for overseeing the enforcement and education of WI laws that protect consumers and honest businesses against unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent practices in the marketplace. The Bureau regulates a diverse group of industries, such as auto repair, telecommunications, home improvement, and telemarketing; and also administers laws on product safety and privacy. Michelle has been with the Bureau since 1995 serving in various roles, including: Program & Policy Analyst, where she was part of the team that opened the Office of Privacy Protection. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a degree in Consumer Science, Consumer Affairs in Business.
