Dr. Michelle Haven has been working in the animal health industry for over 20 years. Most recently, she was the senior vice president of corporate development, strategic alliances and solutions at Zoetis, formerly Pfizer Animal Health. She spent the 10 previous years as their global head of research. As a research fellow at Merck Animal Health, she led early research programs that were progressed to three animal health products.
Dr. Haven holds an undergraduate degree in animal science and doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois, and a Ph.D. in physiology from North Carolina State University. Following completion of a large animal internship at University of Missouri and three-year residency in surgery at North Carolina State University, Dr. Haven obtained specialty board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). She served as a member of the board of trustees for the ACVS Foundation from 2007-2013 and also served as a member of the ACVS Research Committee.
Michelle retired from Zoetis in March of this year. She plans to spend her time focusing on select projects aligned with her passion to impact global animal health. She is also dedicating more time to family and friends, enjoys riding and training her four horses, and spending time with her dog, Edge, and cats, Boney James and Dakota.

Michelle Haven Photo Michelle Haven is the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Alliances at Zoetis, located in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Michelle led Global Strategy, Business Development and Global Alliances for Pfizer Animal Health prior to the spin-off of the animal health division to form Zoetis. Before transitioning to Corporate Development in 2008, Michelle had led Global Discovery Research for Pfizer Animal Health for several years leading teams that contributed a number of products to the Zoetis portfolio for both companion animals and livestock. She began her animal health industry career at Merck Research Labs in 1994, and led early research projects that were progressed to products for the treatment and control of gastric ulcers, and pain and inflammation.
Michelle attended the University of Illinois, earning her B.S. degree in 1982, and a D.V.M. in 1986. She received her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in 1994 majoring in gastrointestinal physiology with a minor in pathology. She also completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery from the University of Missouri, and a residency in equine surgery from North Carolina State University. Dr. Haven became board certified in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1994.
Dr. Haven served on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, founded the International Veterinary Collaboration for China, and participates in a number of non-profit initiatives.
