father, Phil Bovee, was murdered in 1984 by a drifter named Ramon Lopez who was passing through Santa Rosa, New Mexico, where Michelle's parents owned a KOA campground.
For the past few years as a volunteer, Michelle
has done grassroots organizing and lobbied for repeal of the death penalty in her
state.She is a co-founder of the New Mexico MVFR group, and she serves as the co-chair of the New Mexico Coalition to Repeal the Death Penalty.
