The world of dogs in Michele Geiger-Bronsky's childhood was limited to the family watchdog. Often times these were large Belgian Shepherds who served as companions and guardians. In spite of this limited exposure, she has always had an attraction to dogs and often felt that she must have some puppy hood in her background/prior life experiences. om Bronsky's history of dogs was limited to a Dalmation, but only for a short time due to family issues. After Tom and Michele were married for a few years, they began to consider welcoming a dog into their family. The Bronsky's attended a dog show sponsored by the Beverly Hills Kennel Club in Southern, CA and searched the best breeds for their lifestyle. Although the Scottish Terrier did not rise to the top of the list according to the computer match program, they were very attracted to the breed and the characteristics for which they were known. he search for a Scottie resulted in taking Shayna McPunim Bronsky home. Michele recalls the drive home: "Tom and I were a little panicked about the ability to be good parents and give this wonderful little puppy everything she needed.

Wellness Center Executive Director, Michele Geiger-Bronsky explains, "For the past few years, the YAPS program has existed primarily on a volunteer basis because of Kathy's commitment to this underserved population in our community."
During these past three years, the Wellness Center has acted as a fiscal agent for YAPS by way of a Door County Community Foundation grant. Geiger-Bronsky adds, "We feel strongly that the Coordinator of this program and the services provided, are worthy of ongoing support and a stable presence in our community."
Decisions regarding the continuation of an unplanned pregnancy are challenging for a young woman, particularly when she may be single. Often, the support that exists within her own family and from the birth father is inadequate.

Geiger-Bronsky concludes, "We're hoping that our ability to fund Kathy beyond 6 hours per week will be augmented by donations from the community and/or targeted fundraising efforts.
