During the past year, Stahler, as Treasurer, and other members of the Section's Leadership Team, worked with the Utah State Bar to revise section financial practices making it easier for other sections to invest in quality programs for their respective members while providing easier and clearer accounting of funds.

Stahler has served as the lead organizer for the Section's Biennial Trial Skills Academy (2013 and 2015), a multi-day event that gives attorneys hands-on experience in trial advocacy under the tutelage of some of the finest trial attorneys in the Intermountain West.
Stahler was admitted to practice first in Vermont in 2008, New York State in 2010, and Utah in 2012.
He is a Shareholder practicing Construction Law, Torts Defense, and Land Use law.
He is a 2008 Graduate of Vermont Law School and a 2003 Graduate of Middlebury College.He has been selected as a "Rising Star" in the Intermountain West by Super Lawyers magazine in 2015 and 2016 and his peers selected him as "Legal Elite" in Utah Business Magazine in 2016.

MICHAEL STAHLER ELECTED SECRETARY OF THE LITIGATION SECTION OF THE UTAH BARStrong & Hanni attorney, Michael Stahler, was elected as the Secretary of the Litigation Section of the Utah Bar at their annual meeting on June 11, 2014.Stahler has served as a member of the Executive Committee for the Litigation Section since June 2012 and has played a crucial role as a presenter and organizer of several Section events. and was the primary organizer for the Section's 2013 Trial Skills Academy that took place over two days in May 2013.He also moderated a panel discussion on Discovery Strategies Under the New Rules in June 2013 and a January 2014 Section Ski and CLE Event at Brighton Resort where he moderated a presentation on Ethics.
At the Utah State Bar's Annual Convention in Snowmass, Colorado, Stahler was on a panel of attorneys and judges that educated practitioners on Utah's Economic Loss Rule.
The panel is currently drafting a comprehensive law review article on the Economic Loss Rule.
Stahler is currently serving on the Fall Forum Planning Committee and organizing the 2015 Trial Skills Academy tentatively scheduled for May 20-22, 2015 at the Utah Law and Justice Center in Salt Lake City.
The Litigation Section is one of the largest and most active sections of the Utah Bar with about 2,500 members across the State of Utah.
The Section sponsors and organizes events that take place on a monthly basis and also have sponsored outreach programs including Guardian ad Litem trainings and the Bar's "Modest Means" initiative that provides middle income Utahans with discounted legal services provided young practitioners looking to build their fledgling legal practices.

Michael Stahler, an attorney at Strong & Hanni, has been invited to present on a panel that includes other practitioners as well as members of the Federal and State Judiciary on Utah's "Economic Loss Doctrine" at the Utah State Bar Annual Summer Convention in Snowmass, Colorado.
Stahler, Larsen, Hafen, and Steve Glauser are currently drafting a forthcoming two-part treatise on the Economic Loss Doctrine in the State of Utah expected to be published within the next year.
Stahler, who has practiced in Vermont, New York, and Utah, has successfully used the Economic Loss Doctrine in both federal and state cases to obtain victories for clients in construction defect and product defect cases.
